Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern (Energy & Power)
Jacobs is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to join their Energy & Power team at various locations across the US (Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Gainesville, FL).
Interns will apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world energy challenges. The work involves providing engineering services for clients locally and globally, contributing to innovative solutions within a rapidly evolving energy industry. Jacobs offers “end-to-end” life-cycle services, from exploration and development to operation and decommissioning.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Supporting engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for energy and power projects.
• Performing tasks such as piping and equipment sizing, stress analysis, flow modeling, energy analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations.
• Completing detailed engineering calculations.
• Taking ownership of work accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Progressing from basic to more complex projects within a technical team.
• Working with Professional Engineers as mentors.
• Engaging with clients to evaluate their energy needs and develop solutions.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree program.
• Highly desirable: Prior design or consulting internship experience.
• Ideally, familiarity with: 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NavisWorks); hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo, Pipe 2000); systems modeling software (Thermoflow, Aspen/Hysys).
