Job Description: Youth Soccer Competitions Intern (Unpaid)

This internship provides hands-on experience in various aspects of youth soccer operations within a fast-paced environment. Interns will directly contribute to the success of Sporting Kansas City’s youth programs and gain valuable experience in a professional sports organization. The internship is unpaid but offers educational training and the opportunity to receive academic credit. Applicants must be pursuing or have recently completed an undergraduate degree in Sports Management or a related field.

Essential Functions:

Event Management: Help organize, promote, and facilitate soccer leagues, tournaments, camps, coaching education, and community events. This includes assisting with communication/marketing and scheduling.
Program Management: Assist in managing various youth soccer programs, including the Sporting Rec League, Sporting Adult Soccer League, and SKC tournaments.
On-Site Roles: Hold coaching or administrative roles at youth events like camps and clinics.
Program Support: Assist with the Sporting Recreation Leagues, Youth Soccer tournaments, and Academy Affiliate partnership programs.
Administrative Support: Support projects, initiatives, and other administrative duties related to the Youth Soccer department.
Professional Representation: Always represent Sporting Kansas City and its affiliates professionally.
Match Day Responsibilities: Act as a representative at home matches, engaging with guests and contributing to a positive fan experience. Assist with game-day activations and fulfillment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education: Pursuing or having recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in Sports Marketing/Management, Business, Communications, or a related field.
Knowledge: Previous coursework or a desire to learn about the operations of youth development organizations.
Soccer Experience: Interest and experience in competitive sports and soccer (coaching and/or playing experience preferred).
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Calendar).

Physical Abilities:

• Reaching, standing for extended periods, talking, hearing.
• Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
