Job Description: AARP South Region Internship (Summer 2025 – End of Year)

This is a paid, fully remote internship available to rising juniors, seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students (or recent graduates in a continuing education program) located anywhere in the United States and its territories. The internship focuses on applying strong project management, strategic analysis, and events management skills to benefit AARP’s 50+ community.

Responsibilities:

Support Regional Leadership: Work closely with the Regional Vice President, Business Integration Director, and other team leaders to support projects and meetings, implementing “test and learn” techniques.
Project Management & Implementation: Assist in planning and executing special projects to solve problems and promote a nationwide culture; act as a liaison between state offices and National HQ to improve communication. Projects may include:
• Moderating/coordinating virtual/hybrid events/meetings.
• Participating in volunteer engagement efforts/projects.
• Coordinating social media initiatives to enhance the South Region’s online presence.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Contribute to data analysis, writing up findings to identify issues, best practices, and solutions. Develop executive briefings and reports to share knowledge across the region.
Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration: Participate in meetings and work groups to gain and share knowledge on regional issues and communication processes.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled (or recently graduated and in continuing education) in an accredited college/university program as a rising junior, senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student. Must remain enrolled throughout the internship.
• Commitment to AARP’s goals and a willingness to collaborate.
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual/remote environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams).
• Self-starter, adaptable, able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
Plus: Familiarity with video creation/editing and various social media platforms.

Compensation and Benefits:

• hourly rate: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internship is a non-exempt position and does not include employee benefits.
