Job Description: Full Time Structural Engineering Intern

WSP USA’s Transportation Facilities team in Boston is seeking a full-time Structural Engineering Intern for a 12-week summer internship program starting May 19th, 2025 (with flexible start date). This is a temporary position open to undergraduate or graduate students.

Responsibilities:

• Support various engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn fundamental principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, fieldwork, preliminary design calculations, and analysis.
• Contribute to the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete assigned training.
• Practice responsible and ethical decision-making concerning company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Active enrollment in an accredited structural engineering (or related) undergraduate program, with anticipated graduation in May 2026 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in structural engineering and a strong desire to enhance skills related to WSP’s work.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to follow directions from leadership and mentors.
• Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active enrollment in an accredited structural engineering (or related) Masters or PhD program, with anticipated graduation in May 2026 or later.
• Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office.
• Prior internship experience and campus leadership roles.
