Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern (Energy & Power)

Jacobs is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to join their Energy & Power team. Interns will apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world challenges in the energy sector, which is undergoing rapid change. The internship provides opportunities to work on projects with global impact, offering innovative solutions to clients’ energy needs. The company provides a full range of engineering services, from exploration and development to operation and decommissioning.

Responsibilities:

• Support engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for energy and power projects.
• Perform tasks such as piping and equipment sizing, stress analysis, flow modeling, energy analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations.
• Conduct detailed engineering calculations.
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned work.
• Progress from basic to more complex projects, collaborating with a technical team.
• Work with Professional Engineers as mentors.
• Engage with clients, assessing their energy needs and developing conceptual plans and solutions.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or related engineering program.
Prior design or consulting internships are highly valued.
Familiarity or experience with 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NavisWorks), hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo or Pipe 2000), and systems modeling software (Thermoflow or Aspen/Hysys) is preferred.
• Passion for developing reliable and sustainable energy projects.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Location: The internship is available in several locations: Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Gainesville, FL.
