About the Company:
The City Prosecutor’s Office, in partnership with Pacific Gateway, is offering a paid summer internship. The internship is a collaboration between a city government entity and another organization (Pacific Gateway, whose nature is not specified).
Job Description:
This is a paid internship with an hourly rate estimated between $16.50-$17.28/hr, depending on grant funding. Benefits are not provided. The internship is anticipated to last 5-6 weeks.
Duties: The internship will offer a variety of experiences in a legal setting, including:
• Participating in legal seminars.
• Engaging in legal research and writing assignments.
• Touring Long Beach agencies involved in the criminal justice system.
• Participating in group exercises and projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Residency Preference: Priority will be given to residents of Long Beach and Signal Hill, but other locations will be considered.
• Age: Applicants must be between 16 and 24 years old.
• Education: High school students must have completed their junior or senior year by July 2025. Current college students and recent graduates (by the start of the program) are eligible.
• GPA: A minimum 2.7 GPA is required.
• Attendance: Excellent school attendance is necessary.
• Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check is mandatory.
• Transportation: Reliable transportation is required.
• Availability: Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the program (estimated 5-6 weeks).
Application Process:
Applications must be submitted online by April 8, 2025, at 11:59 pm (unless the deadline is extended). The application should include:
• A letter of interest explaining the applicant’s reasons for wanting the internship.
• A resume.
• Official or unofficial transcripts.
• Two references (one professional/school, one personal) with current contact information.
