Job Description: Gensler Summer Fellowship
This is a full-time, paid summer internship (June 3 – August 1, 2025) offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities. The fellowship focuses on research and thought leadership, contributing to Gensler’s mission of redefining the future of cities. Fellows will work on real projects and research initiatives, collaborating with peers to advance the firm’s global work.

Fellows will contribute to Gensler’s research initiatives, focusing on innovative solutions and addressing challenges in urban design. The work will involve applying new thinking and approaches to create a better future. This role is crucial to unlocking innovative solutions and addressing challenges in redefining the future of cities.

Gensler seeks ambitious candidates with a design background and a passion for solving complex problems through unconventional insights into people, processes, and the places where they intersect. Ideal candidates are:
• Students or recent graduates who inspire others and bring fresh perspectives.
• Able to work collaboratively within teams and across geographic boundaries.
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership through academic and/or professional achievements.
• Possess strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-starters, quick learners, and display an entrepreneurial spirit.
Qualifications:
• Meet at least one of these educational criteria:
• Undergraduate: Entering final year (Fall 2025) in a relevant degree program.
• Graduate: Enrolled in a graduate degree program in a relevant field.
• Recent Graduate: Graduated Dec 2024/Spring 2025 from a relevant degree program.
• Accredited degree program preferred (NAAB, CIDA, where applicable).
• Professional or educational background in designing the built environment (architecture, interior design, urban design, etc.).
• Interest in research.
• Online portfolio showcasing design process and innovative solutions (PDF format).
• Strong academic background.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong graphic and persuasive writing skills.
• Familiarity with research methodologies and processes.
• Interest in user research, design strategy, and space programming.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite; Basic skills in AutoCAD and/or Revit; Basic skills in 3D and multimedia technologies (a plus); Hand sketching ability (a plus).
Application Process:
The application is two-part:
• Part I: Online application through Gensler’s careers site, including resume and portfolio.
• Part II: Submission of a portfolio (3-4 curated work samples, PDF, 10 MB max) and responses to essay questions. (Link provided separately).
The application period remains open until mid-March 2025, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. The internship is paid at a rate of $23-$27.50 per hour, depending on location and year of study completion.
