Job Description: CNN Heroes Intern (NYC – Summer 2025)
This paid internship ($19/hour) is a 11-week summer program offering two start date options: June 2nd – August 15th or June 9th – August 22nd. Interns will work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity, meaning a mix of in-office and remote work based on the intern manager’s schedule. The internship is located in NYC.
Responsibilities:
• Attend weekly department planning meetings.
• Utilize CNN’s databases for video access, research, and inter-departmental communication.
• Conduct research, logging, transcribing, and assist with organizational and administrative tasks, including searching for video and images.
• Pitch ideas for nominations and Hero packages.
• Assist on local field shoots and with tasks related to the annual Tribute Show (where possible).
Qualifications & Experience:
• Passion for news.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program (proof required), as a rising junior or senior (18 years or older) with a 3.0 GPA or above.
• US work authorization is required; international students on any student or exchange visa are ineligible.
The internship program is designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship from industry veterans, professional development seminars, networking opportunities, and access to top-level executives. Interns will gain valuable skills and real-world experience in the news and media industry. While credit isn’t required, documentation for school credit can be provided if needed. Relocation assistance is not offered. The application deadline is February 28th, but early application is recommended.
