Job Description: Construction Intern – Union County
This internship provides hands-on experience in road construction for construction management students. Interns gain a realistic understanding of the industry through diverse responsibilities.
Key Duties:
• Support the project management team: This includes subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, file management (submittals, RFIs, change orders), and progress reporting.
• Work with field supervision: Assist with project layout, setting control lines, surveying, construction drawing and trade coordination, verification of field conditions, and quality control.
Qualifications:
• Education and Experience: Enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
• Technical Skills: Proficient PC skills, including Excel, Primavera, and SAP. Familiarity with construction industry practices is preferred, but not required.
• Communication Skills: Ability to understand and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
• Physical Demands: Ability to sit and/or stand for at least eight hours daily; stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb; lift and carry 50-90 pounds frequently; continuous mental attention; exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and noise; work at heights up to 60 feet; walk on uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions; and work a flexible schedule.
Work Environment:
The job is primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to high noise levels, grease, dust, heavy equipment, moving machinery, and various construction site substances (form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and concrete). The company promotes a drug-free workplace.
