Job Description: Operations Management Associate
This is a 6-12 month training role designed to prepare individuals to lead diverse teams as plant Operations Supervisors. The program offers support and guidance to help participants develop their careers within Cargill. The training path is customizable and may include areas such as:
• Operations: Gaining hands-on experience in the fast-paced plant environment.
• Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership: Developing skills in safety protocols and environmental responsibility.
• Engineering/Maintenance: Learning about plant maintenance and engineering systems.
• Accounting: Understanding the financial aspects of plant operations.
• Continuous Improvement: Contributing to process optimization and efficiency.
• Human Resources/Talent Management/Employee Relations: Developing skills in people management and team building.
The role involves working in a protein facility (beef or poultry processing) which may include varying temperatures, wet and messy conditions, and potentially demanding work schedules (varying shifts, 8-10 hour shifts, and 6-day weeks). The work is vital to Cargill’s mission of nourishing the world. Occasional weekend and on-call duties are expected. Job locations are in High River, AB and Guelph, ON.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
• Currently pursuing post-secondary education (any subject) graduating between May 2022 and May 2025.
• Achieved at least the rank of Master Corporal (or equivalent) in the Canadian Forces.
• Four years of relevant operational, mechanical, and/or leadership experience.
Additionally, candidates must:
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Be willing and able to relocate.
• Be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
• Be willing to work first, second, and third shifts and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with degrees or experience in agriculture, business, or engineering (including Animal Science, Ag-Economics, Ag-Business, Ag-Education, Agronomy, Food Science, Feed Science, Meat Science, Grain Science, Operations Management, Ag-Systems Management, Ag-Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanized Systems Management, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Distribution) are preferred.
