Job Description: Paid Industrial Design Internship
Ammunition’s San Francisco-based industrial design team is seeking talented interns. The ideal candidate possesses a strong ability to develop unique design concepts that bring client brands to life. Essential skills include practical problem-solving, a commitment to thoughtful design solutions that enhance user experiences, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional visualization skills.
Interns will be fully integrated into the industrial design team, contributing to all stages of the design process—from concept generation to final implementation. A solid industrial design background is mandatory. A strong graphic aesthetic is highly valued, and practical experience with engineering and manufacturing constraints is preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Maintaining design intent throughout the entire design process (concept to implementation).
• Demonstrating a thorough grasp of design principles.
• Maintaining a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
• Collaborating effectively with UX, graphic, and packaging designers to achieve seamless product solutions.
• Driving innovation through active research, sharing, and implementation of new trends and materials.
• Effectively managing time, organizing tasks, and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
• Communicating design ideas and decisions clearly and articulately.
• Coordinating with vendors to define and specify materials and processes for fabrication and assembly.
• Reporting to the VP, Industrial Design Studio.
Qualifications:
• Industrial design experience.
• BS/BA/BFA degree (or equivalent) in industrial design (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software (preferably Rhino, Pro/E, or Solidworks).
• Comfort with 2D and 3D design visualization tools.
• Demonstrated prototyping abilities.
• Excellent communication skills (visual, verbal, and written).
• Ability to think critically, solve problems quickly, and maintain a positive team environment.
• A compelling portfolio showcasing diverse concept exploration, innovative solutions, a clear design process, and strong visual appeal.
Salary: $48,000-$63,000/year (depending on experience)
