Job Description: Data Engineer

Position Summary:

Deloitte is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their US Delivery Center. This role emphasizes collaboration, idea sharing, and a think-tank environment, with minimal travel required. The ideal candidate is a passionate technologist who enjoys solving complex problems and working in a team setting. The US Delivery Centers are experiencing significant growth, and this position represents a key addition to their expanding team.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement end-to-end data pipelines using ETL processes and technologies such as Databricks, Python, Spark, Scala, JavaScript/JSON, SQL, and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design optimal data models and architectures.
• Optimize data pipelines for scalability, reliability, and high-performance processing.
• Provide innovative solutions to troubleshoot complex data-related problems with large datasets.

Team:

The Data Engineer will be part of the Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering team. This team uses data, analytics, robotics, science, and cognitive technologies to generate insights and inform decision-making for clients. Their work includes implementing large-scale data ecosystems, leveraging automation and cognitive techniques, and driving operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required:

Active Secret Clearance required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of data engineering experience
2+ years of experience with ETL processes and technologies (Databricks, Python, Spark, Scala, JavaScript/JSON, SQL, and Jupyter Notebooks)
2+ years of experience in government consulting
• Legal authorization to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
• Commutable distance (approximately 100-mile radius) to one of the following locations: Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Gilbert, AZ; Houston, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Mechanicsburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA. Ability to commute to the assigned location daily, without overnight stays.
• Willingness to co-locate in the designated Delivery location up to 30% of the time (maximum 10% overnight travel).

Preferred:

AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform Certification
• Experience with agile development methodologies (Sprint and Scrum)
• Experience with government consulting/clients
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Data governance experience
