Job Description: Intern / Trainee (Tax Services)
This internship offers an entry-level opportunity within PwC’s tax practice. Interns will work as part of a team, contributing to the resolution of complex business issues. Specific responsibilities include:
• Engagement Participation: Involvement in various phases of client engagements.
• Tax Research and Analysis: Researching, analyzing, and applying tax laws, rules, and regulations; drafting memorandums to support decisions and propose solutions.
• Project Support: Contributing to select projects, demonstrating initiative and creative thinking within a team environment.
• Seeking Guidance: Actively seeking feedback and clarification from senior team members.
• Prioritization and Task Completion: Demonstrating flexibility in managing priorities and completing assigned tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; minimum 3.0 GPA; fluency in Japanese and English.
• Preferred Qualifications: Ideally, a third or fourth-year student (depending on program length) seeking a winter/spring or summer internship prior to graduation. Meeting all educational requirements for a CPA license (150 credit hours) or providing documentation showing eligibility through reciprocity is preferred.
• Preferred Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated ability in researching and analyzing tax laws, interacting with clients and firm management, and showing self-motivation for personal and career development. Experience with researching business and industry trends, and a demonstrated desire for a tax career is preferred. Exposure to automation and digitization in professional services, including experience with large datasets, modeling, and data visualization tools, is also preferred.
The internship will provide exposure to PwC’s work culture and its value-added services for clients, fostering the development of PwC Professional skills such as curiosity, broad thinking, data analysis, high-quality work production, and effective communication. Interns are expected to adhere to the firm’s ethical code of conduct. The stated salary range is $28.00 – $44.75, dependent on experience and location.
