Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Intern Position
This internship provides support to Amtrak’s EHS division in areas like environmental compliance and sustainability programs. The intern will be involved in various tasks including:
• Data Management:
• Utilize spreadsheets and databases to manage data from multiple sources related to waste and recycling, fueling inspections, training, spill reporting, and environmental project financial documentation.
• Analyze data to produce reports and identify areas for improvement.
• Environmental Compliance:
• Track environmental review requests from various departments.
• Assist with regulatory reporting, internal reporting, developing local procedures, and managing facility data in an environmental information system.
• Research & Communication:
• Conduct regulatory research and summarize findings.
• Assist in creating written communications such as newsletters and training materials for environmental and sustainability goals.
• Prepare materials for internal and external websites and other media.
• Develop and deliver outreach to diverse employee groups on implementing environmental and sustainability programs.
• Administrative Support:
• Coordinate document and electronic records management.
• Manage office supplies and use company financial systems.
• Support environmental personnel across the country.
• Participate in meetings and other administrative functions.
Requirements:
• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
• Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
• hourly range: $17.50 – $35.00 per hour (based on factors like school year, program of study, etc.).
• Paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges.
• One (1) PTO day per academic year.
Summer 2025 Internship Program:
• May 19th – August 8, 2025.
Location: Pennsylvania
