Job Description: Summer 2025 Mechanical Engineering Intern (Lockheed Martin Space)

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025. This role involves the design and analysis of hardware, support for manufacturing processes, and adherence to customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess experience or knowledge in:

Structural design and analysis: Applying these principles in real-world or classroom settings is highly valued.
Hardware design/analysis using CAD software: Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is essential.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Experience with FEA software (e.g., Thermal Desktop) or similar tools is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and analyzing hardware components.
• Supporting the manufacturing process.
• Meeting customer specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school senior transitioning to full-time college enrollment in Fall 2025.
• Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at an accredited university, majoring in mechanical, aeronautical/aerospace, systems engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of software used in hardware design and analysis (CAD and/or FEA).
• US Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:

• Practical application of mechanical and structural design principles.
• Classroom or work experience in structural design and analysis.
• Understanding of hardware applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Arrangement: Part-time remote work with a portion of the schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Specific scheduling details will be discussed during the hiring process. Lockheed Martin offers various flexible work schedules.

The internship is a part-time position, with the pay rate varying based on location and experience.
