Job Description: Privacy Legal Intern (Spring 2025)
About the Team:
The Airbnb Privacy Legal team supports the entire Airbnb business, including product development and privacy compliance. They work to protect the personal data of hosts and guests worldwide, collaborating with various teams like Product, Cybersecurity, Policy, Litigation, Research, and Corporate Legal. The team provides guidance on global privacy laws, including U.S. state and federal privacy laws, the EU’s GDPR, and Brazil’s LGPD.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to challenging projects within the Privacy Legal team.
• Research new privacy laws and regulations.
• Review draft privacy agreements.
• Support implementation of new privacy law requirements.
• Interact with global Legal counterparts, engineers, and the Privacy operations team.
• Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones.
• Communicate with the Legal team and other stakeholders to provide project updates.
• Proactively seek and provide feedback throughout the internship.
• Actively participate in, and contribute to, the Legal and broader Airbnb community.
Requirements:
• Second-year (2L) or third-year (3L) student enrolled full-time at a nationally-accredited law school.
• At least one of the following:
• Completed privacy coursework
• Earned a CIPP certification
• Previous experience within the privacy space
• Strong interest in learning about in-house legal practice, specifically in privacy law.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented, and organized.
• Comfortable reaching out and initiating communication with various team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills and interest in building relationships and collaborating with teams.
• Adaptable and able to adjust plans and manage changes effectively.
• Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to review and distill information from multiple sources.
• Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted) – visa sponsorship is unavailable.
Details:
• Dates: January – May 2025 (exact dates are flexible)
• Hours: Part-time, no more than 19 hours per week
• Location: US – Remote (must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity)
• Compensation: $48 per hour
