Job Description: Graduation Assignment in Ink Development
Are you a WO student who is looking for a graduation assignment?
Canon Production Printing is looking for a student to help them transform their way of working in ink development. The goal is to move away from pragmatic ink screening and towards a more model-based approach. This involves working with complex kinetic models that capture the chemical processes involved in UV-curable ink.
Your Assignment
You will be tasked with bridging the gap between simplified model-ink recipes and real-world inks used in Canon’s UVgel technology. This involves:
• Designing smart experiments: Think of ways to bridge the gap between the simplistic model-ink and real ink.
• Running computer simulations: Use Matlab to analyze and interpret the results of your experiments.
• Performing analytical tests: Utilize techniques like NMR and IR-spectroscopy to characterize the ink components and reactions.
Your Profile
• Research background in polymer chemistry: A strong understanding of polymer chemistry is essential.
• Experience with materials characterization: You should be comfortable with techniques such as NMR, IR, and rheometry.
• Experience with Matlab coding: You will be using Matlab to analyze data and simulate reactions.
• Result-driven and self-motivated team player: You should be able to work independently and contribute effectively to a team.
• Available for 5-9 months, at least 4 days per week.
What’s in it for you?
• Challenging assignment with skilled coaching: You will work with experienced professionals who will guide you throughout the project.
• Internship/Graduation compensation of €500,- per month: You will receive a monthly stipend for your time and effort.
• Travel cost compensation: If you do not have an ‘OV-weekcard’ (public transportation pass), Canon will cover your travel expenses.
• Networking opportunities: You will have the chance to connect with professionals in various fields within and outside Canon.
• Work in a collaborative, innovative, and ownership-focused environment.
