Job Description: Data Science Analyst

Protagonist is looking for a Data Science Analyst to join their team and help further develop their Narrative Analytics® offering. You will be responsible for finding and isolating relevant online media conversations, curating powerful datasets, and ultimately driving success for Protagonist’s clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with media content aggregators and deploy a range of data mining tools to develop narrative-rich datasets that meet client needs.
• Employ advanced NLP machine learning methods to analyze large unstructured text datasets, extract topics, and build classification models.
• Utilize querying languages to clean and manipulate datasets.
• Conduct statistical modeling and predictive analysis to identify trends and insights.
• Collaborate with case teams to visualize data insights in interactive dashboards that answer client questions.
• Support the company’s analytics approach to data and work closely with Client Solutions teammates to deliver Narrative Analytics to customers.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Authorized to work in the US and eligible for US Government contracts.
• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Proven track record of leveraging analytics and large datasets to drive business impact (BS degree with relevant internship experience or Master’s degree with strong, practical project experience).
• Proficiency in R and other statistical programming languages.
• Experience in programming languages like Python or SQL.
• Strong experience with Excel, particularly advanced formula creation, data cleaning, and pivot tables.
• Deep understanding of data science concepts, especially machine learning and natural language processing.
• Hands-on experience with statistical analysis, machine learning, factor/cluster/regression analysis, and classification algorithms.
• Experience with predictive modeling techniques like multivariate regression, logistic regression, time series, neural networks, support vector machines, and random forests.
• Hands-on experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Looker, QuickSight, or Power BI.
• Ability to apply data analysis to communication, marketing, and business strategy problems.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure with meticulous attention to detail.
