The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Phare Consulting Group, located remotely anywhere in the United States. Phare Consulting Group checks the numbers behind business decisions before they are made. This Staff Accountant role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring every invoice, supplier bill, and expense is correctly attributed to the right project. The position directly supports client billing and prepares financial data for monthly close and tax filings, making it central to the company’s operational integrity.

• Mission: Owns the accurate recording of all financial transactions from daily entries to the monthly close, ensuring costs are correctly attributed to client engagements.
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks, Xero, Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactions: Record all client invoices, supplier bills, and employee expense reports accurately.
• Reconciliations: Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a weekly basis.
• Accounts Receivable: Match incoming payments to outstanding invoices and follow up on any open balances.
• Cost Allocation: Code all costs directly to the appropriate client engagements.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare the month-end close procedures and necessary schedules for tax filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Demonstrated knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, gained through a job, an internship, or academic studies.
• Experience: Proficiency with QuickBooks, Xero, or a similar accounting system.
• Skills: Competency in Excel, including the ability to use VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; one to two years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting; experience working in a firm that tracks costs by project.
