Accountant – Corporate Accounting (External Financial Reporting & Benefits Accounting) | Tyson Foods

The Tone:

You will play a key part in preparing essential SEC filings and managing complex benefits-related accounting, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your exposure to technical accounting and cross-functional collaboration.

• Mission: Prepare the company’s SEC filings and quarterly earnings materials, while owning benefits-related accounting responsibilities.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• External Reporting: Assist in the preparation of annual and quarterly SEC filings, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q, and support ad hoc filings such as Forms 8-K, S-3, and S-4.
• Financial Disclosures: Support preparation of quarterly earnings releases and internal executive financial reporting packages.
• Benefits & Equity Accounting: Support accounting for benefit plans, including stock-based compensation, deferred compensation, and pension plans, along with group health and self-insurance reserve calculations.
• Compliance & Controls: Perform iXBRL research and tagging for SEC filings, and execute and document internal controls related to assigned areas, understanding SOX 404 requirements.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments and external contacts, such as consultants, actuaries, benefit plan administrators, and auditors, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 1+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Bonus: CPA certification or active pursuit of a CPA license.
