The Tone:
This is a Direct Hire role at LaSalle Network’s client, located in Lombard, IL, with an initial onsite requirement moving to hybrid flexibility after training. The client is an organization within the mortgage banking industry seeking to grow its accounting team. This role is a prime opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to expand their expertise in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close procedures. The Staff Accountant will provide essential support for daily accounting operations and collaborate with senior team members on various projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries accurately and efficiently.
• Month-End Close: Assist with month-end close activities, adhering to a 5-day monthly and 9-day quarterly close schedule.
• Issue Resolution: Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members for timely resolution.
• Project Support: Support the Senior Accountant with various ad hoc projects and reporting requests as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. This role is suited for an early-career professional with foundational accounting knowledge.
• Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, including hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and journal entries. Mortgage industry experience is a mandatory requirement.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency, specifically including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Bonus: Experience using Power BI.
