This role contributes to the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records by performing essential accounting tasks and supporting robust internal controls. The Staff Accountant plays a key part in the financial operations of an organization aiming for significant growth in the building products distribution industry.

• Mission: Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records through various accounting activities, account reconciliations, and close processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post monthly journal entries with supporting documentation for recurring accruals, prepaids, amortized transactions, and other accounting adjustments.
• Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and thoroughly investigate any identified variances.
• Close Processes: Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct month-end analytical reviews of trial balance accounts and provide clear explanations for any material fluctuations.
• Audit Support: Gather documentation and prepare schedules to support internal and external audit requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: 1+ years of general accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, an array of formulas, and data analysis; strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; effective written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: Experience with Oracle, ERP systems, or other large-scale accounting software; experience working in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
