• Mission: To ensure the performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability of middleware platforms and drive cross-team improvements in engineering practices.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Platform Strategy & Standardization: Lead multiple platform teams in defining tactical and strategic elements for middleware evolution, standardizing patterns, and establishing group-level guardrails for APIs/SDKs, deprecation strategies, and upgrade playbooks.
• Operational Accountability: Be accountable for middleware platform performance, cost control, and reliability outcomes, managing critical escalations for distributed debugging and upgrade safety.
• Engineering Excellence Initiatives: Drive significant cross-team improvements to observability, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and resilience patterns, sponsoring shared observability frameworks and capacity models across teams.
• Stakeholder & Adoption Management: Engage internal and external stakeholders to socialize migration plans, adoption playbooks, and track the adoption and risk of established standards.
• Software Development Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including leading technical recommendations for design, managing feature execution, conducting code reviews, and guiding teams in debugging, troubleshooting, and implementing API versioning and interoperability strategies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Managerial experience leading multiple platform software engineering teams with deep expertise in middleware evolution, standardization, and architectural design for enterprise-level systems. This includes developing and enforcing group-level guardrails for APIs/SDKs and managing their lifecycle.
• Experience: Extensive experience (Senior Manager level) across the full software development lifecycle, from designing and developing complex software, systems, and services to leading code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization. Demonstrated success in managing medium to large-scale projects, driving cross-functional alignment, and improving development processes, observability, and resilience patterns.
• Skills: Strategic leadership in middleware platform evolution and standardization; Expertise in software architecture, structural design, scalability, and performance optimization; Strong command of observability frameworks, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and reliability engineering; Proficient in API versioning, lifecycle management, and interoperability strategies; Advanced capabilities in distributed debugging, troubleshooting, and secure software development practices.
• Bonus: Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and workflows, foster a culture of continuous learning, and provide mentorship for team development. Experience in talent acquisition and managing performance across multiple teams. Strong advocacy for customer interests and product enhancements based on feedback.
