Vice President, Cloud Engineer – AI Engineer | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

The Tone:
This is a senior engineering position at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, one of the world’s leading financial institutions. The role is crucial for evolving the company’s cloud infrastructure into a diverse engineering capability focused on enabling scalable, sustainable AI solutions. You will contribute to defining and delivering next-generation cloud patterns, automation frameworks, and AI-driven solutions that meet the financial group’s governance, security, and regulatory needs. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can work autonomously, manage ambiguity, and adapt rapidly to evolving business requirements.

The TL;DR

• Team: The Cloud Team is part of Digital Engineering Services within the Corporate Technology division at MUFG Securities.
• Mission: This role enables scalable and sustainable AI solutions by defining and delivering next-generation cloud patterns and automation frameworks that meet MUFG’s governance, security, and regulatory needs.
• Tech Stack: Azure, Oracle Cloud, AWS, Python, PowerShell, Bicep, ARM, Terraform, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI SDK/models, Entra ID, REST APIs, OAuth2, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Artifactory, VS Code.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design and implement cloud and AI-ready solutions across Azure, Oracle Cloud, and AWS.
• Develop bespoke automation, integration, and AI-driven components to support business requirements.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, integration services, and identity-aware solution patterns.
• Drive automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
• Implement governance controls and guardrails for responsible, regulatory-compliant AI use.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field, with a focus on cloud platforms, software development, and AI enablement.
• Experience: Deep hands-on Azure engineering experience, including Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/ARM/Terraform). Real-world experience implementing and supporting cloud platforms, identity solutions (Azure, Oracle, Entra ID), and developing REST APIs. Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI SDK/models, and applying AI services to real-world use cases.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Python and PowerShell for automation and AI workflows; deep knowledge of IAM, security patterns, governance, and compliance requirements; expertise in Azure (general engineering + PaaS services), Entra ID, Azure OpenAI (deployment, integration, governance), and API development/integration (REST APIs, OAuth2).
• Bonus: Experience with Azure API Management or similar API gateways. Exposure to AI governance, model lifecycle controls, or responsible AI implementation in regulated environments. Knowledge of Foundry, vectorisation patterns, or AI orchestration frameworks.
