Reconciliation Analyst Intern | Clearwater Analytics

This is a hybrid internship opportunity at Clearwater Analytics, located in Boise, ID, with work-from-home Fridays. Clearwater Analytics is a leading provider of an advanced web-based reconciliation system and cutting-edge investment reporting technology, serving a diverse range of clients. This Reconciliation Analyst Intern role is pivotal in supporting the team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of critical portfolio status updates to these clients. Through this internship, individuals will gain foundational skills in financial reconciliation and reporting, directly contributing to core operational excellence and client satisfaction within the financial technology sector.

• Mission: To support the team in comparing investment portfolio data from external sources against an advanced web-based reconciliation system, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of portfolio status updates to clients while building foundational financial skills.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables), Microsoft Office, VBA, internal proprietary tools and processes

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Review: Assist with the meticulous review and updating of reporting data to help meet daily deadlines for client portfolio status updates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Issue Resolution: Learn to investigate and effectively address identified issues within the reconciliation system, applying guidance from experienced mentors and department experts to find solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Support the team in building and maintaining professional relationships with key data providers, clients, and various internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
• Skill Development: Build practical familiarity with Clearwater’s internal tools and processes through hands-on training, alongside developing an understanding of core financial concepts as they apply to reconciliation errors.
• Professional Communication: Communicate professionally and clearly with both internal and external parties, handling inquiries and providing updates under direct supervision to ensure precise information exchange.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Sciences, or a closely related field, with a preference for rising juniors or seniors. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of fundamental investment, financial, and accounting concepts relevant to portfolio management. This is an entry-level position with no prior professional experience required, focusing on learning and development.
• Experience: Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to utilize functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and Pivot Tables for data analysis. Proficiency in the broader Microsoft Office suite is also required for daily tasks and documentation.
• Skills: Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills are essential for maintaining accurate records and reports. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions, alongside robust organizational and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively within a team environment. An eagerness to learn new concepts and solve complex problems is highly valued.
• Bonus: Familiarity with GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards, a basic understanding of standard security types, or relevant coursework and interest in securities or financial markets. Knowledge of VBA for Excel automation is also a plus.
