EHS Manager | Veolia North America

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Veolia North America, located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The company’s VWTS Oakville business serves as a key engineering, manufacturing, and distribution hub, specializing in designing, fabricating, and servicing advanced water treatment, wastewater treatment, and chemical feed systems for clients across North America. This EHS Manager position is critical for directly supporting approximately 600 employees, ensuring all environmental, health, and safety aspects of the facility are meticulously managed, driving compliance, and instilling a strong safety-first mindset across the operation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead EHS engagement programs: Manage EHS employee engagement activities and provide leadership to programs that instill a safety-first mindset, as well as ensure compliance.
• Analyze and mitigate risks: Analyze EHS data to proactively assess health and safety challenges, develop approaches to control identified risks, and monitor corrective action plans to completion.
• Integrate EHS policies and training: Initiate, improve, and lead the integration of EHS policies, programs, and practices into the business, ensuring all employee and contractor training is completed, documented, and properly maintained.
• Ensure regulatory compliance: Manage activities that drive full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines, while maintaining expert knowledge of existing and proposed regulations.
• Support business reviews and inspections: Provide support to the Management of Change Program by participating in critical business reviews and conducting regular safety inspections throughout the facility.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Experience: At least 7 years of experience in EHS management within a manufacturing facility. This includes demonstrated experience implementing EHS programs and achieving measurable goals with both exempt and nonexempt employees, working effectively with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies on environmental applications and renewals, and developing and implementing programs to drive employee engagement and ownership in EHS. Prior operational experience in business continuity planning and incident management is also required.
• Skills: Proven ability to lead change initiatives, operate independently in a complex environment to deliver business results, and work effectively with remote cross-functional and cross-cultural teams. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with effective listening and presentation abilities are essential. Must be organized, attentive to details, and self-motivated.
• Bonus: Certified Safety Professional® designation is preferred.
