Accounting Methods and Periods Tax Intern – Summer 2027 | RSM US LLP

As an Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP) intern within the Credits, Incentives & Methods (CIM) group, this role supports RSM’s commitment to delivering excellent client service and technical expertise. You will contribute to developing strong working relationships with clients by understanding their businesses and challenges across various industries, participating in multiple team engagements and contributing to several pieces of each assignment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning: Assist with tax planning and research concerning factors that impact the timing of income or deductions.
• Client Understanding: Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses and industries to help identify potential tax planning opportunities.
• Project Execution: Assist in the simultaneous implementation of multiple projects, involving client interviews, data gathering, analysis, computations, and tax filing preparation.
• Documentation: Document factual information and established positions, and draft technical memoranda.
• Communication: Communicate effectively and respond promptly to internal and external requests to ensure the success of AMP engagements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level intern position for candidates pursuing a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university, with an Accounting major. Applicants must have completed at least 90 credit hours towards their degree.
• Experience: The role requires the ability to travel to assigned client locations; candidates must have access to and be able to arrange for reliable modes of transportation to these locations.
• Skills: Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities, strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the capacity to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks.
• Bonus: A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
