Staff Accountant – Rotational | Performance Foodservice
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Performance Foodservice, a key part of PFG, which supports America’s food distribution system. This position directly contributes to the core finance and accounting functions, playing a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The Staff Accountant will perform essential month-end close activities, conduct financial analysis, and prepare various internal reports. This role involves reconciling general ledger accounts, providing guidance to junior staff, and leading moderately complex accounting projects, ensuring robust financial health and supporting informed decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis: Compile and analyze financial information to prepare comprehensive entries to accounts and verify financial data.
• Month-End Close: Prepare and review detailed journal entries, record all necessary month-end accruals, and ensure compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.
• Reporting: Prepare and publish internal month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports, providing critical information to the field regarding accounting practices and procedures.
• Reconciliation: Perform moderately complex accounting reconciliations, review general ledger accounts, and conduct balance sheet trend analysis as assigned.
• Project Leadership & Guidance: Apply accounting knowledge to lead moderately complex projects, provide guidance to Accounting Coordinators and Accountant I staff, and offer recommendations for process improvements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: 0-4 years of experience in a professional accounting or finance environment.
• Skills: Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs; excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective internal and external interactions; strong analytical skills and attention to detail; highly organized, capable of multi-tasking, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic to meet deadlines.
