Accounting Associate (CAAS – Real Estate Industry) | CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen)

This Accounting Associate position is based out of CLA’s Oak Brook, IL or Chicago, IL office. This role is vital to the CAAS Real Estate Industry team, helping to deliver essential client accounting and advisory services and contributing to CLA’s commitment to knowing and helping clients through diverse perspectives.

• Mission: This person solves client accounting needs by processing daily transactions, completing month-end processes, and handling quarterly/annual filings for real estate industry clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Management: Gain the ability to handle multiple clients, various software systems, and diverse charts of accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Daily Transactions: Coordinate and process accounts payable, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and payroll for clients.
• Month-End Reporting: Complete financial statements and perform various account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, prepaids, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accruals.
• Advanced Reconciliations: Complete complex account reconciliations that have been previously established and supported by Senior Associates, Assistant Controllers, Controllers, or CFOs.
• Regulatory Filings: Complete sales tax returns, Form 1099s, and other specific forms or items as requested by clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for accounting or a related financial field.
• Experience: Some accounting and financial experience is preferred for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability in processing accounts payable and receivable, coordinating cash disbursements and receipts, managing payroll, and performing various account reconciliations.
• Bonus: A combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
