This full-time Staff Accountant role, located at one of Sonesta’s properties, contributes to maintaining robust financial operations essential for smooth hotel functionality. • Team: Reports to Finance leadership and collaborates with Human Resources, Operations, and other hotel departments.
• Mission: Support daily accounting operations and financial reporting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the property.
• Tech Stack: Hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, procurement systems, Excel, financial reporting tools.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Daily Accounting Operations: Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll support, and cash management activities.
• Generate Financial Reports: Prepare and maintain financial reports, operational analysis, account reconciliations, and supporting accounting documentation accurately and efficiently, assisting with month-end close processes and reporting deadlines.
• Oversee Financial Compliance: Review financial transactions, invoices, expense reports, and operational records for accuracy, ensuring compliance with company policies and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and labor analysis.
• Collaborate Interdepartmentally: Partner with Finance leadership, Human Resources, Operations, and Front Office to support business operations, audit preparations, inventory reviews, and vendor management.
• Enhance Accounting Processes: Maintain strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems and reporting tools, identifying opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, accounting efficiency, and operational finance processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Hospitality Management preferred, with strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience: 1+ years of accounting, hospitality finance, hotel accounting, or financial reporting experience preferred. Practical experience using hotel accounting systems, PMS platforms, Excel, and procurement systems is also preferred.
• Skills: Analytical thinking, strong organizational abilities, effective communication, problem-solving capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Bonus: Previous experience as a Staff Accountant, Accounting Coordinator, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Finance Assistant. Consideration for individuals on a CPA track or pursuing accounting certifications, and a willingness for flexible availability including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
