Staff Accountant | TBG | The Bachrach Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at TBG | The Bachrach Group, located in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. The company is a family-owned entity that operates its own portfolio of real estate properties, rather than managing external clients. This role is crucial as it involves taking full ownership of the accounting for a diverse group of properties, family trusts, and individual accounts, providing a comprehensive accounting experience from daily tasks through year-end. The team is stable, and this position is a planned hire ahead of a retirement, ensuring a smooth transition and thorough handoff.

• Mission: Own the complete accounting cycle for assigned real estate properties and related family trust and individual entities, from daily reconciliations to year-end reporting.
• Tech Stack: Yardi, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliations: Prepare monthly bank and tenant security deposit reconciliations, and reconcile marketable securities investment accounts.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and post monthly and period-end journal entries, and perform monthly general ledger analysis across assigned entities.
• Year-End & Budgeting: Prepare complete year-end work papers for the balance sheet and income statement, and build and support the annual budget for assigned properties.
• Intercompany & Capital Activity: Maintain intercompany receivable and payable schedules, and process capital calls, distributions, intercompany advances, and repayments.
• Regulatory Filings: Prepare municipal I&E reports, Certiorari filings, and RPIE submissions for NYC properties.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a career focus in real estate accounting.
• Experience: At least 1 year of real estate accounting experience, specifically within property accounting, owner/operator, or a family office environment. Hands-on Yardi experience is strongly preferred. Experience with tenant security deposits and intercompany accounting is required.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency for reconciliations, schedules, and general ledger analysis; detail-oriented and organized; comfortable owning a full set of books through year-end.
• Bonus: Exposure to RPIE, Certiorari, or trust and investment accounting is a plus.
