This is an entry-level, full-time Tax Staff Accountant position, based in Walnut Creek, CA, with hybrid flexibility if located near one of the company’s offices. Allworth Airline Advisors (Formerly RAA) provides comprehensive integrated tax and financial planning services. This role is crucial for supporting the preparation of individual, business, and trust tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of client deliverables. The ideal candidate will be dependable and meticulous, eager to build a career in tax, and will gain hands-on experience by organizing client financial information and supporting clients through their planning journey.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Create detailed workpapers and comprehensive supporting schedules necessary for various individual, business, and trust tax returns.
• Organize: Accurately input, categorize, and maintain client tax data within the designated tax-preparation software systems.
• Reconcile: Systematically match and verify financial statements, bookkeeping records, and diverse tax documents against the generated return workpapers to ensure consistency.
• Support: Actively assist with the calculation of tax projections, estimated tax payments, preparation of extensions, and responses to tax authority notices.
• Communicate: Proactively identify and address missing information or inconsistencies, following up with clients, advisors, and senior staff to resolve questions for thorough review.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an Entry-Level role requiring a Bachelor’s Degree, with an accounting focus preferred.
• Experience: No specific prior experience is strictly required, though some background in accounting or tax preparation would be advantageous.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong attention to detail, an ability to work accurately under deadlines, and proficiency with Excel and other relevant software are essential. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with professional judgment, discretion, and respect for confidential information. A positive, collaborative attitude and openness to learning from feedback are also key.
• Bonus: Interest in pursuing CPA or EA licensure is highly preferred, indicating a commitment to professional growth in the tax field.
