The Tone:
This is a part-time or full-time internship at HBK CPAs & Consultants, available at various office locations. HBK is a growing Top 50 accounting firm and a Top 100 registered investment advisory, home to hundreds of collaborating professionals dedicated to building thousands of close client relationships. This internship program offers a valuable and challenging hands-on learning experience, designed to develop an understanding of the public accounting profession and enhance an intern’s formal education. The role is integral to supporting clients, and HBK fosters a supportive environment that provides the resources and experience needed for interns to excel in their careers and gain insight into the public accounting industry.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Enhance formal education and develop a practical understanding of public accounting and firm operations through hands-on experience.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Understanding: Comprehend clients’ needs, expectations, business, industry, accounting, and control systems, including relevant GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Risk Assessment: Assess financial risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure.
• Audit Execution: Perform analytical procedures, substantive tests, and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Financial Reporting: Draft financial statements and contribute high-quality work products to various audit projects.
• Professional Development: Work alongside team members, performing responsibilities similar to a first-year associate, to strengthen communication, analytical, and professional skills.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently a sophomore or junior pursuing a major in accounting.
• Experience: Interest in actively pursuing the CPA designation.
• Skills: Excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, leadership experience, campus involvement, and relevant work experience are highly valued.
