Staff Accountant | M/I Homes, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a role within M/I Homes, Inc.’s Corporate Accounting Team. M/I Homes has been building new homes of outstanding quality and superior design for more than 50 years, fulfilling the dreams of over 170,000 homeowners. This role is crucial for providing daily support to the operations business by accurately preparing financial activities. The Staff Accountant is directly responsible for producing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations, ensuring the financial health and transparency of the company’s operations.

• Mission: Owns the accurate preparation of financial statements and account reconciliations to support daily operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Produce: Prepare monthly financial statements for operations and joint ventures.
• Reconcile: Prepare monthly account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and assist with quarterly reconciliations.
• Process: Prepare, review, and post routine and non-routine journal entries.
• Support: Provide JD Edwards and InsightSoftware (Hubble) support for divisions, and assist internal and external auditors by providing reconciliations, schedules, and reports.
• Execute: Perform miscellaneous projects as assigned and work with the VP of Finance regarding division accounting issues and month-end transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Entry-Level career experience.
• Experience: Up to two years of experience or an accounting internship (preferred).
• Skills: Excellent analytical and organizational skills; Proficient in Excel; Strong verbal communication for interaction with office and division personnel; Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Bonus: Eagerness to learn and develop accounting knowledge; Familiarity with JD Edwards and InsightSoftware (Hubble) is a plus.
