Analyst Internship- Controllers (CFO Org) | GEICO

The Tone:
This is a paid 10-week summer internship at GEICO, located in New York City or Bethesda, MD (hybrid schedule). GEICO, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies, is one of the largest auto insurers in the United States, offering quality coverage to millions and thriving on relentless innovation. This role is essential for bright and driven analytical students to contribute to the company’s insurance business transformation within the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Organization. Interns will apply their college skills while preparing for prospective entry into the Analyst Development Program upon graduation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Execution: Work on significant analyst projects, attend meetings, and give presentations to senior management.
• Business Integration: Be introduced to GEICO Finance and operations, learning the systems used and supported, as well as data and integration points.
• Skill Enhancement: Develop analytical, project management, and communication skills, while building analyst business acumen.
• Financial Impact: Directly impact GEICO’s financial and strategic performance, with opportunities to drive financial processing innovation and transformation.
• Strategic Influence: Partner with business stakeholders to analyze results and recommend future investment decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required for Controllers track), Finance, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, or other relevant analytical or FinTech major, with expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest in the Finance field through relevant internship experience, engagement in relevant student or business organizations, pursuit of relevant certifications or advanced coursework, or other form of engagement within the field, along with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, PowerBI or similar tooling, technical aptitude with a desire to learn financial systems, ability to work independently, strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Bonus: Knowledge in GAAP reporting.
