Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time Manager Trainee position at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. J.B. Hunt builds comprehensive supply chain solutions that ensure the safe and timely movement of freight across North America. This role is crucial for developing future leaders who will manage critical operational aspects, maintain customer satisfaction, and ensure compliance within a demanding logistics environment. The trainee’s foundational learning and contribution directly support the efficient and reliable delivery of goods.

• Mission: To learn and apply management principles to oversee small driver counts, non-traditional shifts, and ensure the safe and timely movement of freight while providing best-in-class customer service.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver & Carrier Relations: Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to optimize productivity and minimize turnover.
• Fleet Optimization: Become proficient in maximizing fleet efficiency and profitability, making recommendations for continuous improvement and reporting key performance indicators.
• Operations Management: Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service meeting customer requirements.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain the company’s safety culture, enforce company policies, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations for drivers.
• Administrative & Financial Duties: Perform administrative duties including payroll, budget management, financial analysis, and operational reporting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience: One year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, or account management if possessing a High School Diploma/GED.
• Skills: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends; strong analytical decision-making capabilities; effective communication skills; and problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team, ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts, adaptability to changing environments, and skill in building and maintaining professional relationships.
