Regional Collector Associate – REMOTE | Ryder

The Tone:

The Regional Collections Associate is crucial for managing customer accounts, resolving billing issues, and protecting Ryder’s financial interests by ensuring timely payment and minimizing bad debt.

• Mission: Maximize financial results by lowering Days Revenue Outstanding (DRO), reducing the percentage of the portfolio over 30 days delinquent, and minimizing Ryder’s bad debt expense.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contact customers to solicit payments, negotiate cessation of services, obtain information on deductions and billing issues, and determine contract defaults.
• Analyze disputes and deductions using gathered customer information to resolve amounts due to Ryder due to various billing discrepancies.
• Provide Ryder’s Finance, Operations, Sales, and Rental leadership with regular updates on receivables through conference calls and direct contact, including bad debt expense forecasting.
• Participate in projects, committees, or focus groups related to enhancements in Collections, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, and Billing processes.
• Work with customers and all levels of operational/sales management to mitigate losses, improve receivables metrics (DRO/Bad Debt/dollars past due), and preserve customer relationships.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry to mid-level professional with a required H.S. diploma/GED, focused on commercial collections.
• Experience: One year or more in commercial collections, or two years or more in accounting/financial with a H.S. Diploma. Candidates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree require 0 to one year in accounting/financial roles.
• Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of commercial collections process (intermediate), MS Office Suite (intermediate), problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication, decision quality, detailed-oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
• Bonus: Associate’s degree preferred in business, accounting, financial or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, accounting, financial or a related field.
