IT Operations Associate | World Food Programme
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at World Food Programme, located in Turkey. The World Food Programme is the largest humanitarian organization globally, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and providing food assistance to foster peace and stability for those affected by conflict, disasters, and extreme weather. This role is crucial for coordinating and guiding IT maintenance and support activities, directly enabling the effective delivery of essential IT services across the organization.
The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person Turkey
• Team: Reports to the Information Technology Officer or designate.
• Mission: Coordinate and guide Information Technology maintenance and support activities to ensure effective delivery of IT services.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain IT Systems: Ensure technology runs effectively by performing system and hardware maintenance, including specialized network monitoring and system protection.
• Monitor and Report: Track technology reliability, analyze data, and produce accurate reports to recommend IT solutions that support informed decision-making.
• Provide User Support: Independently resolve staff IT queries, escalating issues when required, to ensure accurate information and support is provided.
• Deliver User Training: Conduct standard technical training for end users on commonly used technology and systems to assist WFP staff in their work.
• Guide Junior Staff: Provide guidance and training to junior colleagues in delivering IT support services to build staff capabilities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Completion of secondary school education, coupled with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area.
• Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience, including demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, and testing of new hardware to enhance system performance. Proven experience in analyzing IT service management results to identify improvements, and solid field-level experience in implementing and supporting IT and telecommunications systems, particularly in emergency operational environments.
• Skills: Proficiency in IT system and hardware maintenance, including network monitoring and protection. Demonstrated ability in IT service management analysis, problem resolution, technical training delivery, telecommunications system coordination, and team guidance. Fluency (Level C) in both oral and written English, as well as fluency in the duty station’s local language.
