The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid Staff Accountant role at Oliver James, located in Boca Raton, FL, with an initial 90-day on-site period. The company specializes in providing vehicle protection and warranty-related products through automotive dealerships, operating within the automotive protection, warranty, and insurance space. With approximately 300 employees and support for around 34 entities, this role joins a substantial Accounting & Finance organization that includes Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, and Data teams. This position offers an early-career accounting professional a crucial opportunity to build upon existing experience, gain greater ownership of accounting processes, and achieve increased exposure within a complex, multi-entity environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger accounts for multiple entities.
• Reconciliation & Discrepancy Resolution: Perform monthly account reconciliations, diligently researching and resolving any identified discrepancies.
• Close Cycle Participation: Actively assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting Support: Prepare detailed financial schedules and supporting documentation, contributing to the preparation and analysis of financial statements and internal reports.
• Operational Accounting & Projects: Provide support for accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash, and other accounting functions as needed, and participate in ad hoc accounting projects and financial analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early-Career accounting professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, and a minimum 3.5 GPA required; understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience: 1-3 years of professional accounting experience, specifically with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency, including the ability to work effectively with financial data; robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities; excellent attention to detail and superior organizational abilities; proven capability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a deadline-driven environment; and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience within insurance, warranty, automotive, financial services, or another multi-entity environment is a plus.
