What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Execution: Conduct independent desk reviews and various on-site audits for child nutrition program providers, including daycare centers and homes, operating under supervision.
• Regulatory Compliance: Research and apply relevant USDA or other government program regulations to accurately determine compliance during audit procedures.
• Audit Management: Perform all phases of the audit process, encompassing initial planning and research, provider communications, fieldwork, comprehensive desk review, and clear reporting of findings.
• Documentation & Analysis: Prepare detailed working papers to thoroughly document the scope and findings of each audit, while analyzing attendance, enrollment, menu, and financial information for informed decision-making.
• Information Security: Maintain stringent security and confidentiality protocols for all protected health information when analyzing and handling sensitive materials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. This is an entry-level role.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required; internship or equivalent working experience in accounting or a related field preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent verbal and written communication; well-organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word); ability to interpret and apply statutory/regulatory or policy language.
• Bonus: Must be able to travel within and out of state 75% based on client and business needs; GPA of 3.25 or higher; CPA or CPA candidate; experience with health and human service program auditing.
