Cost Accountant | val’s services
The Tone:
This is an entry-level position at val’s services, a 1-person organization, operating within an office/hybrid setup with optional remote work and some travel required. As a Cost Accountant, you will be instrumental in developing precise cost per unit models that directly influence sales prices and critical business decisions. Your analytical work will be foundational in evaluating financial performance, ensuring accuracy in pricing, and providing essential insights to management and accounting teams to drive profitability and strategic growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Closing: Perform monthly sales and materials closing activities, then present findings to management.
• Analysis: Analyze sales and materials data specifically for budget events, providing valuable insights.
• Pricing: Create detailed sales breakdowns, conduct profit analyses, and prepare parts and unit pricing quotes under supervision.
• Variance: Evaluate variances related to material usage and sales prices to identify discrepancies and trends.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Alternatively, an Associate’s degree combined with at least 2 years of directly relevant professional experience will be considered. This entry-level role requires a solid grasp of core accounting principles, including General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and specialized knowledge in cost accounting methodologies.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience is required for candidates without a Bachelor’s degree. Proficiency is essential in key Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel for robust data analysis and PowerPoint for clear presentations. Demonstrated experience with SAP is also a mandatory requirement for this role.
• Skills: The successful candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex financial data, excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies, and superior organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Clear and concise presentation skills are also critical for communicating findings to management.
