Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 | RSM US LLP

The Tone:
This is an internship position at RSM US LLP, a leading provider of professional services to the middle market globally. This role allows interns to work with diverse companies in various industries, building strong relationships with clients by understanding their businesses and challenges. Interns contribute to multiple team engagements, performing several pieces of any particular assignment to gain comprehensive experience.

The TL;DR

• Location: Travel required to client locations
• Pay: $34–$40 hourly
• Mission: Develop strong working relationships with clients by understanding their businesses and challenges to support multiple team engagements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Understanding: Comprehend clients’ needs, expectations, business, industry, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Audit Approach: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the RSM audit approach and its associated tools.
• Risk Assessment: Assess financial risks and evaluate the client’s internal control structure.
• Test Execution: Perform substantive tests and tests of internal controls to identify and successfully resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Financial Reporting: Draft financial statements accurately following prescribed formats.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, actively working towards a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university, with an Accounting Major.
• Experience: Completion of 90 credit hours. Must have access to and ability to arrange for the use of reliable modes of transportation for required travel to assigned client locations.
• Skills: Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, GAAS), internal control evaluation, risk assessment, performing audit tests, and financial statement drafting.
• Bonus: A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
