Staff Accountant – Addison, TX | LHH

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at LHH, located in Addison, TX, seeking a Staff Accountant for an established, growing consumer products organization known for its collaborative and entrepreneurial culture. This position represents an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build upon a strong foundation in General Ledger accounting, GAAP, financial analysis, and Excel. The role is critical for those interested in actively using technology, automation, and analytics to improve and streamline accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be someone organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable fostering partnerships with both fellow accounting professionals and cross-functional business teams.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries while evaluating their impact on the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and proper classification.
• Reconciliations: Perform assigned balance sheet account reconciliations, thoroughly investigating and resolving any identified discrepancies.
• Financial Analysis: Prepare and review monthly supporting schedules, assist with monthly financial reporting, and analyze financial results compared with budgets and forecasts to provide meaningful insights.
• Expense Compliance: Research expense activity to ensure appropriate timing, classification, and full compliance with both company policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes, best practices, and overall efficiency, leveraging automation, AI-enabled tools, and other technology to enhance cost-effectiveness.
• Collaboration & Support: Develop strong working relationships across Accounting & Finance and with cross-functional business teams, providing timely support for ad hoc requests, special projects, and other accounting initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline. This includes a solid foundational understanding of General Ledger accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience: Entry-level professional experience, demonstrating an ability to learn and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, communication, listening, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively with employees and management at all levels, contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Internship or relevant part-time accounting experience. Accounts payable experience is a plus. Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and/or ERP systems is preferred. Interest or prior experience in AI, machine learning, automation, and analytics within an accounting environment.
