Accounting Intern | American Tower

The Tone:
This is an internship within American Tower’s U.S. Tower division, a global digital infrastructure company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. American Tower builds and operates tower sites and other real estate solutions that support connectivity and opportunity worldwide. This role is essential for supporting the U.S. Tower Finance team in preparing and reporting financial figures that adhere to GAAP standards. The intern will learn the operations of a complex business and its accounting organization, contributing to the company’s continued success by upholding its core principles.

• Mission: To assist with financial reporting and accounting processes for the U.S. Tower division, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide assistance with the monthly financial close process.
• Prepare: Create account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Apply: Utilize generally accepted accounting principles under the guidance of a team leader.
• Contribute: Assist with the preparation of financial reports.
• Analyze: Apply analyses to basic operating statistics and financial data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business degree with a concentration in accounting.
• Experience: Must be within 18 months of graduation at the time of internship commencement.
• Skills: Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Ability to analyze basic operating statistics and financial data.
• Bonus: Minimum GPA of 3.3 preferred. Interest in obtaining a CPA or other relevant professional designation preferred.
