Spring 2027 Student Internship – Property Accounting | Tampa Electric

The TL;DR

• Type: Part-time (20-30 hours)

• Team: Property Accounting
• Mission: Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and monitoring of activities related to property, plant, and equipment for Tampa Electric.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review and analyze CWIP (Construction Work in Progress) work orders to manage the in-service dates of Company assets.
• Complete the unitization of work orders to appropriately functionalize assets into their designated depreciation accounts.
• Calculate, analyze, and report on monthly AFUDC (Allowance for Funds Used During Construction) and depreciation.
• Assist in completing monthly closeout activities related to property accounting tasks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: College undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or Accounting. Candidates must be in their Junior or Senior year of study and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Experience: Academic background or foundational understanding related to property, plant, and equipment accounting principles. Familiarity with financial concepts such as project analysis, reconciliation, asset unitization, AFUDC reporting, and depreciation analysis is beneficial for successfully assisting with the tasks outlined for this role.
• Skills: Analytical review of work orders, financial reconciliation, asset unitization, calculation and reporting of AFUDC, depreciation analysis, and proficiency in assisting with monthly financial closeout activities.
• Bonus: Enrollment in the university’s co-op program; if not eligible for a co-op program, the student will be considered an intern.
