Intern, Federal Tax (Private Client Services) | Alvarez & Marsal

This role is crucial in helping clients improve compliance with tax authorities and manage their overall tax risk profiles. Interns contribute directly to providing specialized and customized tax solutions.

• Mission: To assist in providing specialized tax solutions that enhance compliance and manage client tax risk profiles.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Consulting Projects: Perform special consulting projects, including preparing year-end tax projections and financial analysis to identify optimal tax minimization strategies for clients.
• Tax Research: Research various federal, international, state, and local income tax regulations to support client positions and advise on changes.
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare federal and international income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, S Corporations, and C Corporations.
• Client Support: Assist in preparing correspondence to clients regarding proposed and final Internal Revenue Service regulations and gather tax-related financial information from clients.
• Financial Modeling: Assist in the development of economic models that are used to evaluate transactions for strategic planning and structuring purposes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or another relevant field, with an earliest graduation date of December 2027 and latest graduation date of June 2028.
• Experience: This is an entry-level internship role for students currently enrolled in a relevant degree program.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, high proficiency in spreadsheets, capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and high motivation to learn and grow.
• Bonus: Pursuing or intending to pursue a CPA, JD, or LL.M; must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
