Accounting Intern | Coinbase

The Tone:
This is a 12-week internship at Coinbase during summer 2027. Coinbase operates as a remote-first company but includes intense quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” The organization is singularly focused on its mission to increase economic freedom by building the future of finance, maintaining a high-bar and intense environment. As an Accounting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting operations, collaborating with various finance teams and contributing to day-to-day processes, month/quarter-end close, and significant accounting transformation projects. This role is crucial for supporting the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for month-end close cycles with guidance and review from Accounting team members.
• Collaborate: Collaborate across Global GL Operations, Revenue Accounting, Digital Asset Inventory Accounting, and Capital Markets/Prime Financing Accounting, working with US and international stakeholders.
• Contribute: Contribute to critical accounting projects such as new system logic implementations, process enhancements, or product launches.
• Support: Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, including non-US subsidiary statutory financial statements.
• Maintain: Maintain process documentation and ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures throughout all assigned workstreams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in Accounting or a related field with foundational knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience: Demonstrated analytical ability applied to accounting or finance contexts, such as performing reconciliations, conducting variance analysis, or building financial models through academic coursework, specific projects, or prior professional experience; proven capability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and consistently meet deadlines, demonstrating strong prioritization skills across competing workstreams.
• Skills: Foundational knowledge of US GAAP; strong analytical abilities in accounting or finance; proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Familiarity with data analytics tools such as SQL, Snowflake, or Looker; prior experience with digital assets and understanding of the crypto economy; ability to responsibly utilize generative AI, ensuring human oversight to produce business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
