Staff Accountant | Sports Endeavors
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Sports Endeavors, with one required day in the office per week in Hillsborough, NC. Since 1984, Sports Endeavors has grown into one of the world’s leading soccer retailers, delivering unrivaled service and selection to players, parents, coaches, and fans. This Staff Accountant role is a key member of the corporate accounting team, supporting the integrity of the general ledger and the accuracy and timeliness of the financial close.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger & Close: Prepare assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close within SAP, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, and reclassifications, ensuring accuracy and complete support.
• Account Reconciliations: Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations in FloQast for assigned accounts, ensuring proper classification and supporting documentation, and researching reconciling items.
• SOX Compliance: Perform assigned SOX controls consistently and on time, retaining complete evidence of execution and helping keep SOX-level documentation current.
• Audit Support: Prepare and organize PBC schedules and supporting documentation for quarterly reviews and the annual audit, responding to auditor requests under direction.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to ad hoc projects that streamline the financial close, identify automation opportunities, and use AI tools to accelerate research and analysis.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the month-end close process.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets), strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with high attention to detail.
• Bonus: Exposure to SOX or another internal control environment; experience with SAP or a comparable ERP; experience with FloQast or a comparable close-management tool; experience using AI tools such as Claude or Microsoft Copilot; CPA or actively pursuing CPA licensure; public accounting or consumer products industry experience.
