Internship – Financial Reporting STAT Winter/Spring Season | Security Benefit

This is an internship at Security Benefit, located in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, with a hybrid schedule. • Team: Reports to the Manager, Statutory Reporting.
• Mission: To support the statutory financial reporting team by assisting with financial statement preparation, data reconciliation, regulatory filings, audit support, and month/year-end close processes.
• Tech Stack: MS Excel, MS Word
What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Assist in preparing statutory financial statements and reports.
• Reconcile: Support the reconciliation of accounts and ensure accurate financial data.
• File: Participate in the preparation of regulatory filings.
• Analyze: Analyze and compile financial data for audits.
• Process: Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current, full-time student in accounting and/or finance with at least a 3.0 GPA in majors.
• Experience: Available to work at least 19 hours a week, beginning December/January and continuing throughout the end of May.
• Skills: Proficient with MS Excel and Word; strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills; ability to think objectively and analytically; ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Bonus: Current junior or senior preferred; willingness to develop industry-related knowledge.
