Tax Intern | Neogen Corporation
The Tone:
This is an internship at Neogen Corporation. Neogen offers solutions that enhance the quality, quantity, and safety of the global food supply, impacting everything from farm operations to the production facilities of well-known food companies. Their diagnostics are critical to the health and well-being of their customers’ operations and, in turn, their consumers. This role provides a crucial opportunity to gain hands-on experience with corporate tax processes and operations, supporting a variety of tax compliance, reporting, research, and administrative activities within a global organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns, including supporting workpapers.
• Analyze: Gather, organize, and analyze financial information crucial for tax compliance and comprehensive reporting.
• Support: Provide support for the preparation of tax account reconciliations and related financial schedules.
• Manage: Assist with various state and local tax activities, such as sales and use tax and property tax filings.
• Contribute: Support the quarterly and year-end income tax provision processes.
• Research: Research basic tax issues and accurately summarize findings for members of the Tax team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of accounting principles essential for tax operations. The ideal candidate will also possess a genuine interest in corporate taxation and a strong desire to develop their tax knowledge within a global business context.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is required for data organization and analysis. While specific years of experience are not mandated, this role seeks individuals eager to apply academic knowledge in a practical setting.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex tax issues; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks; ability to efficiently organize and prioritize multiple assignments; strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration and summarizing research; and the ability to work both independently on tasks and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Bonus: Coursework covering federal taxation, corporate taxation, or related accounting subjects. Previous experience through an accounting, finance, or tax internship or other relevant work experience. Familiarity with ERP, accounting, or tax software to streamline operations. An interest in pursuing a CPA or other accounting-related professional certification.
